01 Transport

Scrap the stupid M4 relief road plans, focus on proper rail investment instead!

Let's finally get serious about transport in Wales and scrap these daft plans for a new M4 bypass around Newport. Billions could be better spent on actually fixing our crumbling rail network and expanding services, especially in the north and west. This isn't just about convenience; it's about connecting communities, reducing our reliance on cars, and cutting emissions, which is pretty vital given my job.

We all know the Welsh rail network is a joke outside the south east. It takes twice as long to get from Aberystwyth to Cardiff as it should, and connecting north Wales to the south by train is a proper adventure. We need more frequent services, better infrastructure to allow faster journeys, and new lines connecting underserved areas. Imagine being able to hop on a decent train to visit family in Gwynedd or get to a job in Wrexham without spending half the day travelling.

Enough is Enough: Stop Dumping Welsh Farmland on Speculators!

It's time we stopped letting vast swathes of Welsh farmland be bought up by wealthy investors and developers looking to flip land for profit, often leaving it derelict or unproductive. This new policy proposes a strict 'Welsh First' land ownership rule for agricultural land, meaning priority will always be given to Welsh farmers, Welsh agricultural businesses, and Welsh community land trusts when farmland comes onto the market. This isn't about keeping outsiders out; it's about ensuring the land that feeds us stays in the hands of people who care about its future and the future of Wales.

The current system is a disgrace. We see prime agricultural land, the very bedrock of our food security and rural communities, being treated like just another commodity on a stock exchange. This speculation drives up prices, making it impossible for young Welsh farmers to get a foothold and forcing established farmers out.
