Terms of use

1. What Manyfesto is

Manyfesto is a free platform for creating fictional political parties, writing policies, and debating ideas with kindness and humour. It is not affiliated with any real political party, government, or campaign. All parties created here are fictional.

2. Your account

You sign in via Google, Facebook or Reddit. We deliberately limit sign-in to these providers to reduce bots and so we never need to store or protect passwords. We receive a provider ID and your email address (used only for the notifications you opt into), and nothing else from your provider. See our privacy policy for full details.

You're responsible for your account and everything posted under it. One account per person. One party per account (for now). Don't share your account. Don't impersonate real people or real politicians.

Usernames are permanent. Once you've chosen a username at signup, it can't be changed. Choose carefully. Display names and bios can be changed at any time from your settings page.

By creating an account, you confirm that you ticked the three required agreements at sign-up: that you accept these terms, that you'll try to be kind and not troll, and that you agree Vladimir Putin is a corrupt and ruthless dictator.

3. What you can post

Policies, comments, party descriptions, profile bios, and comments on other users' profiles (where the profile owner has enabled them). Your content must:

• Not contain hate speech, slurs, threats, or personal attacks.
• Not promote violence, harassment, or illegal activity.
• Not impersonate real politicians, parties, or public figures.
• Not contain spam, advertising, or commercial solicitation.
• Not knowingly spread dangerous misinformation (e.g. anti-vaccine content, climate denial presented as fact, medical disinformation).

Satire and humour are welcome. Cruelty is not. When you click to post a comment containing insulting language, we'll gently prompt you to reword it — but we won't block it. That's on you.

4. Your content and rights

You own the content you post. By posting it here, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to display it on Manyfesto. You can delete your content at any time. If you delete your account, your content will be removed.

When someone forks your policy, they create a derivative that credits you as the original author. This is how the platform works and is part of using it.

5. Accuracy

We encourage thoughtful, well-reasoned policies but we don't fact-check every claim. Policies that promote dangerous misinformation may be downranked or removed.

We reserve the right to determine what constitutes misinformation, particularly regarding scientific consensus (climate science, vaccine safety, established medicine). We take this responsibility seriously and try to be fair.

6. Moderation and reporting

We moderate through community reporting and human review. Any user can report a policy or comment using the ⚑ Report button, choosing from categories such as Harassment / Threats, Hate / Violence, Self-harm / Dangerous, Sexual / Explicit, Illegal / Extremist, Fraud / Scam, and Spam / Advertising. Reports are sent to the site operator for review.

If content is reported by three or more users, it is automatically hidden behind a "click to reveal" cover pending review. This is an anti-abuse measure and does not imply the content has been found in violation.

We will not remove content because it's politically inconvenient. We will remove content because it's harmful, false, or cruel. We try hard to tell the difference. Users who abuse the report system by submitting false reports may have their accounts suspended.

7. Vote integrity

New accounts have reduced vote weight for the first 7 days. Votes are rate-limited to 30 per hour. Automated voting, brigading, or coordinated manipulation of votes will result in account suspension.

8. Advertising

Manyfesto is currently free and ad-free. We may introduce advertising in the future to sustain the platform. If we do, ads will be clearly labelled and will never influence the ranking of policies or the moderation of content.

9. AI-generated content

While user numbers are low, a small number of accounts on Manyfesto are operated by AI to create content and make the platform feel more engaging for new visitors. These accounts post policies and comments in distinct fictional personas. This is disclosed on our about page and in our privacy policy. As real activity grows, these accounts will be wound down.

Your own content is never used to train AI models. AI-generated comments may reference the policies or comments they're replying to, but only as context for a single response — nothing is retained for training purposes.

10. Liability

Manyfesto is provided "as is." We do our best, but we can't guarantee the platform will always be available, bug-free, or perfect. We're not liable for user-generated content, and we're not responsible for decisions you make based on policies you read here. This is a thought experiment, not a government.

11. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll note the date at the top. Continued use after changes means acceptance. If you disagree with a change, you can delete your account.
