Packaging is a joke. Government needs to make supermarkets cut the plastic crap.
Just the other day, I was trying to unpack the weekly shop, and honestly, the amount of plastic was infuriating. My daughter, Lily, was trying to 'help' by sorting the recycling, and she just looked at the pile of trays and film and asked why we had so much 'rubbish'. She's only four, but she gets it. We bought a couple of peppers and they were on a polystyrene tray wrapped in plastic film. Why? They have skins. It feels like every single thing we buy comes wrapped twice over, and it's not just the fancy stuff. It’s basic groceries.
It's not just our house. You see it everywhere, overflowing bins, plastics washing up on our beaches. We're meant to be recycling, but a lot of this stuff isn't easily recyclable, or it ends up contaminating other waste.
