Why are we still paying polluters to get rich off our energy bills?

How much sense does it actually make that energy companies are being handed massive subsidies while ordinary families are struggling to heat their homes? It feels like we're rewarding the very people who are making the climate crisis worse. This isn't just unfair, it's actively counterproductive to any real climate goals. We’re essentially paying polluters to continue polluting.

My proposal is to scrap these ridiculous subsidies for fossil fuel companies immediately. Instead, that money should be directly reinvested into local renewable energy projects. Think community solar farms, wind turbines on public land, and grants for homeowners to install solar panels and improve insulation. This would create local jobs, drive down energy costs for everyone in the long run, and actually build a sustainable energy future.
