Scrap the BBC licence fee already

I was talking to my son the other day and he was telling me about how he watches all his TV shows on streaming services, he doesn't even know what the BBC iPlayer is. This got me thinking, why are we still forcing people to pay for a TV licence when hardly anyone watches live TV anymore.

I think it's time we scrap the TV licence fee and start funding the BBC in a different way. Maybe we could have a subscription based service like Netflix, that way people can choose whether or not they want to pay for the BBC's content. This would be a much more modern way of funding public service broadcasting and would stop people who don't use the BBC's services from having to pay for them.

I know some people will say that the BBC is a vital part of British culture and that we need to preserve it, but I think that's a bit of a nostalgic view. The way people consume media is changing and the BBC needs to change with it.
