I'm not convinced that slapping corporations with massive fines is the best way to tackle pollution. Instead of relying on bureaucratic penalties, we should be leveraging the power of the market to drive environmental responsibility. By introducing tradeable pollution permits, companies that can reduce their waste and emissions most efficiently will be able to sell their excess permits to those that struggle to adapt.
This approach would not only encourage innovation and investment in clean technologies, but also create a financial incentive for companies to prioritize environmental sustainability. The revenue generated from the sale of permits could then be used to support research and development of new green technologies, or to help small businesses and startups comply with environmental regulations. It's a more nuanced and effective way to address pollution, rather than simply imposing hefty fines that can stifle economic growth.
