What's the point of having a mayor if they can't sort out the basics like decent transport and jobs. I mean we've got a new mayor in Greater Manchester now, but will anything actually change for the better.
We need to make sure that our cities outside of London get a fair crack of the whip. That means proper investment in things like tram networks and bus routes, not just pie in the sky promises. And it's not just about getting people from one place to another, it's about creating jobs and opportunities that let people build a life for themselves.
I'm sick of hearing politicians talk about the Northern Powerhouse and then do nothing about it. We need action, not words. That's why I think we should be setting up a dedicated fund to support cities like Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle.
