I get what this policy is saying, and honestly, the idea of local energy is spot on. We’ve been talking about this for ages down at the centre. Parents are struggling to heat their homes, never mind pay for their kids' football kits. Solar panels on the community centre roof? Brilliant. But we’ve got to be realistic about how we get there. It’s not just about panels, it’s about making sure everyone can afford them and benefit.
My worry is that these big green energy ideas, like the ones in this original policy, sometimes feel like they’re designed for places that aren’t quite like Bradford. We need schemes that are accessible to people on lower incomes, not just those who can afford the upfront cost.
