Scotland Needs Its Own NHS

I think Scotland should have its own fully autonomous National Health Service, free from Westminster control. This is needed because the current system is clearly not working for us, with decisions made in London that don't take into account Scotland's unique needs and circumstances. We see this time and time again, with funding allocations that seem to favour England, and policies that are designed with the south east of England in mind, not the Highlands and Islands.

The Scottish NHS would be able to make its own decisions about how to allocate resources, and how to design services that meet the specific needs of our population. This would allow us to focus on the issues that are most pressing for us, such as rural health care and the challenges of an ageing population. We could also make our own decisions about how to staff our hospitals and clinics, and how to support our hardworking nurses and doctors.
