Stop building houses in villages without guaranteeing new GP surgeries and reliable broadband first

My proposal is simple: any new housing development in rural areas must come with a mandatory plan and funding for upgrading essential local services. This means not just roads and schools, but crucially, GP capacity, decent public transport links, and reliable fast broadband. For too long, we’ve seen developers build hundreds of houses in and around villages like ours, talking about "sustainable communities" while ignoring the actual community already here.

My surgery is already beyond capacity. We can’t recruit new GPs because housing is unaffordable and the workload is unsustainable. Adding hundreds of new patients just means longer waits, sicker people, and more stress on an already exhausted team.
