Seriously, how long are we going to let companies based down south rake it in while our own country has all this untapped potential? It’s like leaving a perfectly good pint on the bar and ordering a lukewarm tap water instead. We’ve got wind, we’ve got tidal, we’ve even got the sun sometimes. Why aren't we properly investing in making Wales energy independent?
My idea is pretty simple. We set up a Welsh National Energy Company. Think of it like the old British Gas, but actually Welsh and focused on our needs, not lining pockets in London. This company would be tasked with developing and managing renewable energy projects right here in Wales, from offshore wind farms in the Celtic Sea to solar arrays on our hillsides.
