I think it's about time we got serious about teaching our kids how to use the internet responsibly, frankly it's a matter of common sense. Instead of just focusing on restricting access to social media, we should be introducing compulsory digital literacy classes in schools, that way kids can learn how to navigate the online world safely and critically.
One must consider the fact that our schools are already underfunded, so I propose we use existing resources to deliver these classes, perhaps by partnering with local community groups or businesses. We could also use some of the money saved from reducing bureaucracy in the education sector to fund these programmes. I've read somewhere that schools in rural areas are particularly struggling with limited resources, so it's essential we find a way to make this work without putting extra pressure on them.
