We need a windfall tax on oil and gas giants, but instead of just chucking the money at some vague green projects, let’s use it to directly cut business energy bills for at least five years. My electricity costs have tripled in two years, and it’s not sustainable. We’re talking about closing down perfectly good local businesses.
This isn’t about stopping green energy, it’s about survival. We need reliable, affordable power now. The government should set up a fund using that windfall tax money that directly subsidises business energy tariffs. It could be administered through existing business support networks or even HMRC, making it simple for companies to get the relief. It has to be a substantial cut, enough to make a real difference month-to-month.
