So London knows best about Welsh research, does it? Let's take back control of our science cash.

Why on earth is research funding for Wales still funnelled through committees in London that barely know where Aberystwyth is, never mind what our actual needs are? We've got brilliant minds in our own universities, but the big money always seems to chase projects that fit a very English agenda. It's like expecting someone in Cardiff to set the research priorities for the Scottish Highlands; it just doesn't make sense.

We need a fully devolved Welsh National Research Fund. Not just a token pot, but a substantial budget, directly managed by people in Wales for Welsh priorities. This isn't about isolating ourselves, it's about making sure the investment goes where it will do the most good for our communities and our economy. We can still collaborate, of course, but the ultimate decision-making and the bulk of the funding needs to be here.
