I’m sick of seeing politicians preen on the world stage while our own schools are falling apart and the NHS is creaking. It feels like we’re more concerned with our ‘global reputation’ than with practical help. All this talk about alliances and defence feels like a distraction when there are genuine humanitarian crises happening that we could actually do something about without needing a single fighter jet.
We need to refocus our foreign policy on tangible, evidence-based aid and development. That means investing properly in sustainable projects – clean water, education, basic healthcare – in countries that genuinely need it. Forget nation-building or trying to pick sides in every squabble. Let’s use our expertise and resources to make a real difference to people’s lives, not just score political points. This isn’t about charity; it’s about stability and preventing bigger problems down the line.
