Enough is Enough: Time to Actually Tackle Plastic Waste, Not Just Talk About It

Honestly, it drives me mad seeing plastic bottles and wrappers everywhere, even in the supposedly nice parks. We’re teaching the kids about recycling and composting at school, but then you see the sheer volume of single-use stuff that just seems unavoidable. It feels like we’re just pushing the problem around rather than fixing it at the source. The government’s talk about targets and plans is all well and good, but the reality on the ground isn't changing fast enough, and I worry about what kind of planet we're leaving for our own children.

My proposal is straightforward: we need to drastically increase the tax on all non-essential single-use plastics. This isn't about penalising people for buying necessities; it’s about making producers and retailers think twice before using plastic packaging that’s going to end up in landfill or the sea within minutes.
