£72 MILLION FOR WHAT EXACTLY? LET'S TALK TRANSPARENCY

It makes you wonder, doesn’t it, all this money suddenly appearing for Reform UK? £72 million is a lot of cash, and frankly, I’d rather see it spent on proper community projects right here in Grimsby. We’ve got libraries needing funds, bus routes that are barely running out to the villages, and older folks struggling to get online. That’s where the real need is, not on another political party’s advertising campaign.

My husband Dave and I always believed in putting your money where your mouth is, especially when it comes to helping neighbours. If people are donating, they should know exactly where it's going. This whole situation feels a bit murky, like when you hear about some big firm getting tax breaks while our local shops are closing down. It’s not fair, and it doesn’t feel right to people just trying to get by.

We need a system where political funding is crystal clear.

It’s a lot of money, that’s for sure, but I’m not sure a local movement like Bristol First could ever get that kind of backing, even for something as sensible as fixing the Number 1 bus route.

The policy mentions libraries needing funds, which is a worthy cause, but doesn't Reform UK's funding come from donations rather than taxpayer money, or am I misremembering how these things typically work?

Seventy-two million quid for Reform UK? Sounds like a decent night at Villa Park if we could actually spend it on something useful, like keeping the pub lights on.

Aye, keeping the pub lights on would be a sound investment, wouldn’t it? Though I’m not sure even 72 million would cover the heating bills for every pub in Grimsby these days. It makes you think about where that money could go, though.
