I'm fed up with being taken for a ride every time I commute to work, with rail fares going up and up while the service stays the same. It's like they think we're made of money, and it's getting to the point where I'm considering just working from home full time to avoid the hassle and expense. I've had it with the excuses about investment and maintenance, when all I see is delayed trains and overcrowding.
The thing is, I love trains, I really do, and I think they're a great way to get around, but the current system is just not working for ordinary people. I've been looking at how other countries do it, and it's amazing how much cheaper and more efficient their rail networks are. There's got to be a better way to fund our railways than just slapping more and more cost onto the passenger. I'd change the whole funding model, so that it's not just commuters who are footing the bill.
