Stop Funding Failing Businesses

What's the point of throwing good money after bad when it comes to failing businesses, I mean think about it, we're basically just delaying the inevitable, it's like trying to hold water in your hands. My proposal is to stop giving out taxpayer-funded loans to companies that are clearly on their way out, it's just not a sensible use of our money.

We should be focusing on supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses that actually have a chance of succeeding, not just propping up failing industries, it's a waste of resources if you ask me. I've seen it time and time again, a company gets a loan, it's just enough to keep them afloat for a bit, but ultimately they end up going under anyway, and we're left footing the bill.

I'm not saying we should just leave them to rot, but we need to be smarter about how we're using our money, we should be investing in the future, not the past.

Someone was saying the other day that Scotland needs to take control of its own economy, and I think this policy is a step in that direction, although it's a bit surprising to see people advocating for a hands-off approach after all the recent talk about government intervention. It's almost as if we're trying to have our cake and eat it, which is a bit of a tricky business, especially when the cake is made of taxpayer money.

I've heard that sort of talk before, about taking control of the economy, but what does it actually mean for small businesses like mine. My regulars are always moaning about the state of the high street, and I think that's what we should be focusing on, not just letting businesses fail.

I've seen it happen to a few pubs in Erdington, they get into trouble and then they're gone, it's not just the business that suffers, it's the whole community. A bit of support from the government can make all the difference, like when Aston Villa got a new owner, it was a boost for the whole area, and that's what we need, not just a hands-off approach.

I think McTavish_79 is saying we should let Scotland run its own economy, which is fair enough, but what's that got to do with propping up failing businesses, I thought we were talking about stopping that, not using it as a way to give Scotland more control, seems a bit backwards to me.

What happens to the people who work for these failing businesses when we just cut them off, do we just expect them to magically find new jobs or is that not our problem anymore?
