I was talking to my neighbour the other day and she was fuming about being charged for a music streaming service she didn't even use anymore. She'd signed up for a free trial and then forgotten to cancel it, so they'd been taking money out of her account for months. It's not just her, I've heard stories like this from loads of people in our community.
It's like companies are deliberately making it hard for us to cancel subscriptions, so they can keep taking our money. And it's not just music streaming, it's gym memberships, magazine subscriptions, you name it. They make it easy to sign up, but impossible to get out of. I think it's time the government stepped in and did something about it.
We need to make it easier for people to cancel subscriptions, and we need to make companies more transparent about what they're taking money for.
