Enough with the car-centric nonsense, let's actually fund public transport properly

We need a radical increase in investment for public transport, starting with a commitment to drastically improve bus services across the country. This means not just more routes, but more frequent services, especially during off-peak hours and weekends, and importantly, affordable, integrated ticketing that covers all modes of transport within a region.

The current state of public transport, particularly buses, is frankly pathetic in too many places outside of London. My parents in a village near Stroud rely on a bus that runs once a day – it’s not transport, it’s a suggestion. This forces people into cars, choking our towns with pollution and making life harder for those who can’t drive. It’s a vicious cycle that we need to break, and a properly funded bus network is the most practical way to do it for the majority of people.
