Scrap the NHS Waiting Lists Madness

What's the point of having a national health service if you're just gonna end up waiting months for treatment, I mean it's like the system is designed to drive you mad.

The thing is, it doesn't have to be this way, we could be investing more in our healthcare system to reduce waiting times and actually provide the care people need when they need it. My proposal is to increase funding for the NHS by introducing a new tax bracket for high earners like myself, I mean let's be real, if you're earning over 200 grand a year you can afford to pay a bit more to help out the rest of society.

This extra funding would be used to hire more doctors and nurses, and to improve the infrastructure of our hospitals, so we can actually provide the level of care that people expect from the NHS. It's not rocket science, if you've got more staff and better equipment, you can treat more patients and reduce waiting times, it's just common sense.

I was at the hospital last week visiting my sister and I couldn't help but notice the state of the waiting room, it's a wonder anyone gets treated at all with the condition of the chairs, anyway, this tax bracket idea might be a start but I'm not convinced it's just a matter of throwing more money at the problem. My husband's always saying we should just privatise the whole thing, but I think that's just because he's never actually had to use the NHS.

I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure the state of the waiting room chairs isn't the root cause of the NHS's problems, though I'm sure a comfy seat would make the wait for treatment a bit more bearable. Maybe we should start a crowdfunding campaign for new furniture and see how that goes before we privatise the whole thing.

How would this new tax bracket be implemented and enforced to ensure high earners don't just find ways to avoid paying it, like they do with so many other taxes.

Aye, the common sense bit is right, but how do you stop the wealthy simply re-routing their earnings to avoid that "high earner" tax band, which is the real question here?
