I was talking to a mate who's a small business owner the other day and he was saying how he's had problems with his financial info being shared with the wrong people. It's a nightmare for him, he said, and it's made him question who he can trust. I can imagine how frustrating that must be, and it got me thinking about how this sort of thing can happen to anyone, even politicians.
I don't think it's right that people's personal financial info can just be leaked out to the press or whoever else wants it. It's a breach of trust, if you ask me. That's why I think we need to introduce some proper safeguards to prevent this kind of thing from happening. We should have stricter laws around data protection, and people who leak sensitive info should face serious consequences.
I'm not saying it's easy to fix, but something needs to be done. We can't just have people's private info being shared willy-nilly, it's not on.
