We need an independent sporting integrity commission, separate from government influence, to handle major disciplinary cases. This isn't about Manchester City specifically, but about the principle that sporting bodies should be free from political meddling. When politicians start opining on ongoing legal or disciplinary processes, it undermines the integrity of the entire system.
Westminster seems to think it can just dip its fingers into any pot it fancies, even something as far removed from their usual purview as football appeals. It’s this very attitude that makes so many of us north of the border weary of being governed from afar. Decisions about a football club's punishment should be based on sporting regulations and evidence, not on what might win a politician a few headlines or placate a particular segment of the electorate.
