Honestly, all this recycling feels like a waste of time if companies keep dumping plastic on us

I swear, every time I unpack an online order, I just stare at the mountain of cardboard and plastic wrap that held two tiny items. It’s beyond a joke. Even with all our efforts in Bristol to sort our recycling, you hear stories about how much of it still gets incinerated or shipped off because it’s contaminated or just not profitable to process. It makes you wonder what the point is when the stuff just keeps piling up at the source.

We’re constantly told to recycle more, but the actual problem starts way earlier. Companies are still churning out products with ridiculous amounts of unnecessary packaging, often a mix of materials that are impossible for local councils to sort efficiently. It feels like the responsibility has been entirely offloaded onto the consumer and overstretched local authorities, who are just trying to keep up with the sheer volume.
