Energy Security: We Need a Balanced Approach, Not Just Nuclear

I understand the frustration with the current energy situation, and frankly, the cost of living is hitting families hard. The idea that we can rely solely on intermittent sources like wind and solar is a bit optimistic, I’ll grant you that. But the proposal to focus exclusively on nuclear power feels like we’re jumping from one extreme to another, and that’s rarely a good idea in policy.

While nuclear does offer a reliable baseline, we can't ignore the significant upfront costs and the long lead times for new plants. Plus, the waste disposal issue hasn't exactly been resolved with a neat bow. It feels a bit like swapping one set of complex problems for another, potentially more expensive, set. And leaving renewables out entirely seems short-sighted given the advances being made.

Instead of picking just one horse to back, shouldn't we be looking at a more diversified energy portfolio?
