Last weekend, my eldest, Lleucu, was out raising money for her Welsh language nursery’s new playground. She was so proud, knocking on doors, explaining in Welsh why the new slide was important. It made me think about how much genuine effort goes into even small community projects here, just to get a bit of funding. Then you read about politicians having private dinners with powerful people, and later those meetings just vanish from official records. It makes a mockery of all that honest hard work.
My proposal is simple: every elected official and senior civil servant, particularly those in positions of power in Westminster, needs a public, real-time online log of every single meeting they have with external individuals or organisations. I mean every one.
