Enough is Enough - Welsh Rural Communities Deserve Better Thancrumbs

I was in the post office in Machynlleth last week, and this elderly woman, a farmer's wife I think, was trying to pay her electricity bill. She had her passbook and was clearly distressed. The cashier, bless her, was trying her best, but the woman just didn't have enough to cover it this month. She was talking about cutting back on heating, even though it's barely autumn. It’s heartbreaking to see people who’ve worked their whole lives, who’ve kept this country going, struggling to afford the basics. This isn't just about energy bills; it's about the wider cost of living hitting our rural communities the hardest.

We need a specific Welsh policy that recognizes this disparity. We’re not London, and our needs are different. I propose a "Rural Resilience Fund" that directly supports farming families and small businesses in our less populated areas. This wouldn’t be a handout, but targeted investment.
