Stop central government messing up local buses, give the money to councils.

It makes no sense, does it, that we have communities cut off from their nearest doctors or shops because there isn’t a reliable bus, yet central government pours money into projects that don’t quite fit local needs? One must consider that those in Whitehall aren’t riding the number 29 from Laverstock to Salisbury District Hospital. They can’t possibly know the specific routes and times that truly benefit local residents. Frankly, it’s a waste of taxpayers' money when funds are allocated without a proper understanding of the ground level.

My proposal is simple. Instead of these grand, often delayed, national transport schemes, we should empower our local councils directly. Give them a dedicated, ring-fenced budget for local bus services.
