My proposal is to establish a dedicated Scottish Education Fund, ring-fenced from general taxation, specifically to increase teacher salaries, reduce class sizes, and invest in modern learning resources. This fund would be overseen by a board comprised of teachers, parents, and educational specialists, ensuring its priorities align with the actual needs of our classrooms.
We've seen year after year how education budgets are squeezed. It’s demoralising for teachers like me and frankly, it’s impacting the children. We’re losing good teachers to better-paid jobs elsewhere, and class sizes are creeping up, making it impossible to give every child the attention they deserve. This isn't about luxuries; it's about providing a decent, stable environment for our kids to learn and grow.
