I propose that we introduce a new law that requires all politicians to publish a fully costed and detailed education policy before they can run for office, so we can see exactly what they plan to do with our schools.
This is needed because time and time again we've seen politicians come to power with vague promises to improve education, only to find out later that their plans are half-baked or unworkable. It's frustrating for teachers like me, and it's damaging for the kids who deserve better.
We need to make sure that anyone who wants to run the country has a clear idea of how they're going to support our schools and our teachers, and that they're not just making it up as they go along. This law would help to ensure that our politicians are serious about education, and that they're not just using it as a way to get votes.
