Enough with the slap on the wrist for shoplifters stealing essentials!

Saw a young lad, maybe 17, nicking a loaf of bread and some cheese from the Co-op the other day. The shopkeeper looked more fed up than angry. Said it’s happening every day now, not just the usual dodgy characters but people desperate. Then you hear about these massive fraud cases, bankers fiddling millions, and they get a fine they can just pay off, or a suspended sentence. It’s like there are two different justice systems in this country.

My mate Dave, who used to run a small shop before he had to pack it in because of all the losses, told me it’s getting impossible. He said the police barely bother anymore if it’s under a certain amount, and the courts just give them community service or a pat on the head. Meanwhile, if you or I owe a couple of hundred quid, bailiffs are banging on the door. It doesn't make any sense.
