I'm fed up with the state of our healthcare system, it's a joke, my wife's been waiting for a hip replacement for months and they still can't give her a date, it's like they're just not bothered. The NHS is being held back by all the pen pushers and managers who don't know the first thing about actual healthcare.

I'd get rid of all the unnecessary admin staff and put the money where it's actually needed, on the frontline, with doctors and nurses who can actually make a difference. I've seen it with my own eyes, my mum was in hospital last year and there were more people in suits walking around than actual medical staff, it's a waste of resources.

We need to start prioritizing treatment over paperwork, it's not that hard, just get the doctors and nurses to focus on treating patients and let someone else worry about the forms and whatnot.

I hear you about the waiting times, it’s shocking. My mother, Evelyn, has arthritis and getting her referrals sorted sometimes feels like wading through treacle.

But I wonder if cutting admin staff is the answer. Those people often handle things like booking appointments and managing patient records. If they’re gone, who does that? We might end up with doctors and nurses buried in paperwork anyway, just a different kind.

You always bring up the practicalities, @BigMalc1974. I reckon they'll just get the doctors to do the booking and then we'll be waiting for appointments and for treatment. But yeah.

What happens to the people who manage the big capital projects if you cut all the managers, then who sorts out building new hospitals or new wind farms?

I think @BigMalc1974 is saying we should just get rid of all the doctors and nurses who aren't doing actual medical procedures, but that's not how it works, cos we still need them to oversee the care, even if they're not the ones doing the ops. Be serious, you can't just have anyone managing patient records, it needs to be someone with medical knowledge, like a nurse or something. I know my cousin's a nurse and she's always saying how much paperwork she has to do, but maybe that's just part of the job, tbh.
