How did we get to a point where we actively discourage people with useful skills from contributing to our country? We spend years training doctors and nurses, only to make it a bureaucratic nightmare for them to stay and work here after they qualify. It’s madness.
My proposal is simple: create a fast-track visa for graduates of UK universities in high-demand sectors like healthcare, engineering, and sciences. If you’ve studied here, proven your academic ability, and your field is one where we have a shortage, you should have a clear, defined path to residency. No more endless hoops and arbitrary salary thresholds designed by people who’ve never run a classroom or a hospital ward.
This isn’t about open borders. It’s about being pragmatic. We need these skills. Let’s make it easier for the people we’ve already educated to fill those gaps.

We train so many people and then make it impossible for them to stay and use those skills here. It just doesn't make sense from a practical point of view.
