Means-test sunshine to ensure fiscal responsibility

In the current economic climate, it is simply not sustainable to provide sunshine free of charge to everyone, regardless of income. Wealthy households receive the same amount of sunshine as the most vulnerable, and this is frankly not progressive.

We propose a means-tested sunshine allowance. Households earning above the median income will be required to register for a Sunshine Entitlement Card (SEC). Those below the threshold will continue to receive sunshine as normal, provided they complete the 14-page application form and supply three years of bank statements.

The savings from this policy are estimated at zero pounds, because sunshine is free and this policy is ridiculous. But it does demonstrate our commitment to the principle that nothing should be available to everyone without at least one layer of bureaucracy.
