It proper boils my blood seeing the prices people are paying for their gas and electric these days. I hear it from passengers all the time, families struggling to keep the heating on, little shops having to cut hours because the bills are just too high. And what gets me is, we're sitting right on top of our own reserves, miles of the stuff under the North Sea and even under our own land. It's like having a full tank of petrol but choosing to pay triple for someone else's. It's just daft, innit?
So my plan is simple: let's get serious about extracting our own energy, our own gas and oil. We’ve got the technology, we’ve got the know-how. Re-open those North Sea fields, invest in proper infrastructure, and even look at fracking again where it makes sense and is safe. The Greens might not like it, but what are people going to do, freeze in the dark?
