Enough is enough – time to get serious about skilled immigration, not just shouting

We need a completely overhauled immigration system focused on bringing in skilled workers and those with in-demand professions, while drastically reducing low-skilled routes and cracking down on illegal immigration. It's time we moved beyond the performative debates and actually built a system that benefits Britain and its workforce, rather than exploiting cheap labour and undermining our own skills. The current approach is a mess, letting in people who don’t fill genuine gaps while key sectors, like healthcare and engineering, still struggle to recruit.

This isn't about slamming the door shut. It's about being strategic. We should expand the points-based system to actively target specific skills shortages identified by industry and government, perhaps through a faster-track visa for those with critical qualifications and job offers.
