We need to start putting the needs of our local communities at the heart of decision making, rather than just paying lip service to the idea of a fair and prosperous society. I've seen it time and time again in Brixton, where big promises are made but nothing ever seems to change, and it's the same story all over the country.
We've got communities that are struggling to make ends meet, with food banks and homeless shelters being used more and more, and it's clear that the current system isn't working. That's why we need to give local people more control over the resources and services that affect their lives, so they can make decisions that actually benefit their community, rather than just lining the pockets of big businesses and corporations.
