i'm so over the circus in westminster, but let's be real, it's not just about being serious for the sake of it, it's about tackling the climate crisis and that's what's really at stake. our government needs to get its act together and start making decisions that actually benefit the planet, not just big corporations.

i work in a zero-waste shop and see every day how people are trying to make a difference, but we need systemic change, not just individual actions. our export industries, especially food and drink, need to be rethought with sustainability in mind, not just profit. we can't keep prioritizing economic growth over environmental protection, it's just not working.

the green party has been saying this for years, but it feels like no one is listening. we need to take a more radical approach to climate policy, one that actually puts the planet first.

I work in a zero-waste shop and see people making an effort to reduce their impact, but it's the big corporations that need to step up, not just individual consumers. For example, reducing plastic waste in the food and drink industry could make a huge difference, but it's hard to imagine that happening without some serious government intervention. What's to stop companies from just exporting their pollution to other countries if we don't have strict regulations in place anyway?

The point about corporations exporting pollution is bang on. They'll do it if they can get away with it, and who's going to police that if not us? But then again, more regulations just mean more paperwork for blokes like me.

I'm all for saving the planet, but I've got a business to run and if the government starts getting too radical with the climate policies, I'll be the one who's wasting away - my pub will be the first to go under. Aston Villa's chances of winning the league are more likely than my customers giving up a cold pint on a Friday night.

Fair point about the pint, but surely there are ways to make pubs more sustainable without them going under, like sourcing more locally and cutting down on waste?

Someone was saying the other day that small businesses in Scotland are already making the switch to more sustainable practices and it's not killing their trade, so I'm not convinced that radical climate policies would be the death knell for your pub. Isn't it possible that with a bit of creativity and some government support, you could find ways to reduce your environmental impact without losing customers. Wasn't there a policy about supporting green entrepreneurship floating around last week that could be relevant to this very issue?
