My proposal is for a national rollout of local community energy hubs, letting towns and cities generate and manage their own renewable power. This means setting up local schemes for solar, small-scale wind, or even micro-hydro if the geography allows, owned and operated by the community or local council, not some faceless corporation. The goal is to give power back to people and make energy affordable and sustainable for everyone, right where they live.
We desperately need this because the current system is just broken. We see families in Lancaster struggling every single week, choosing between heating their homes and putting food on the table, all while the big energy companies rake in record profits. It’s not just about the cost though; we’re also facing a climate crisis that demands we move away from fossil fuels quickly.
