Scrap Universal Credit for Local Support

I'm proposing we ditch Universal Credit and replace it with local support systems that actually understand the needs of our communities. This is needed because Universal Credit has been a disaster for people in towns like Grimsby, it's too slow and too cruel, leaving people without enough money to get by. We need something that can respond quickly to people's needs, not some faceless system in London that doesn't care about the specifics of our town.

We've seen it time and time again, people coming into my shop, struggling to make ends meet because their Universal Credit payment is delayed or insufficient, it's heartbreaking. A local support system would be able to provide more tailored help, taking into account the local cost of living and the availability of jobs, it would be more effective and more compassionate. It wouldn't be perfect, but it would be a lot better than what we've got now.
