Shut the Back Door on Bogus Asylum Claims

I was chatting to a mate who's a copper in Catterick and he was telling me about this bloke who rocked up at the local nick claiming asylum, said he was from Somalia or somewhere. Thing is, the guy had a brand new iPhone and a TAG watch, didn't seem too desperate to me. Turns out he'd been living in France for years, had a job and a flat, but decided to leg it to the UK because he heard the benefits were better. That's not what the asylum system is for, it's a joke.

I've seen this sort of thing before, people taking the mickey, and it's getting worse. I think we need to sort out our asylum system, make it so only genuine cases get considered. We should be looking after people who are actually fleeing war zones or persecution, not some bloke who wants to jump the queue for a council flat.

We need to start by fixing our borders, making sure people can't just walk in and claim asylum without being properly checked out.
