How did we get into this mess where we're begging other countries for energy when Britain's got wind and sea all around us? It’s madness. We should be making our own power and keeping the cash here.
My idea is simple. We nationalise the wind farms and the offshore gas fields that are still running. Not just the shiny new ones, but the old ones too. They're basically built with British cash and common sense anyway. Then, we use that income to slash energy bills for everyone. Make it dirt cheap, like it should be. We could even use some of the profits to insulate homes properly, so people aren't freezing their bits off or burning through cash just to stay warm.
Imagine not having to worry every time the bill comes through the door. Imagine the government actually doing something for working people for a change, instead of just lining the pockets of energy execs and their mates.
