I've seen some dodgy business deals in my time as an IT consultant, but our current immigration system takes the biscuit. It's a free-for-all, with some people expecting a free ride at the expense of British taxpayers. I'm not against immigration, but it's got to be fair and sustainable. We need a system that rewards those who contribute, not one that attracts freeloaders.

The problem is that our current system is a magnet for abuse. We've got people arriving here with no intention of working or paying their way, and that's just not on. I'm not talking about genuine refugees or asylum seekers, but those who see our benefits system as an easy touch. We need to make it clear that if you want to come to the UK, you've got to be prepared to pull your weight. That means having a job lined up, or sufficient funds to support yourself, before you even set foot in the country.
