Enough with these 'boosts', let's get some proper graft going.

It’s the same old story, innit? A bit of sunshine and blokes kicking a ball around and suddenly the papers say the economy’s booming. Meanwhile, me and the missus are watching our bills go up and up, and the cost of getting a bit of grub for the table is getting ridiculous. It’s not real growth, is it? It’s just a bit of luck.

We need to be supporting the industries that actually keep the country ticking over day in, day out. Not just relying on the weather or a football tournament. That means looking after our small businesses, the ones I see struggling every day on my runs, proper shops and cafes run by people who know their customers. Give them a break with the rates and the red tape so they can actually afford to employ people and invest in their futures.

And this talk of 'challenging months ahead' because of some foreign conflict is just a cop-out.
