Local Jobs for Local People, Not Just Lip Service

What's the point of having all these big corporations in our city if they're just going to import workers from elsewhere and not even bother training any locals. I mean it's just common sense that if you're going to set up shop in our community you should be giving back to it in some way. That's why I think we should be pushing for a policy that requires any large company setting up in our area to have a certain percentage of local employees.

This wouldn't just be some token gesture, it would be a real commitment to investing in our community. We're not talking about just any jobs either, we're talking about skilled work that can provide a decent standard of living for people. And it's not like it's going to be a burden on these companies, they'll actually benefit from having a workforce that knows the area and can give them a unique perspective on the local market.
