Why are we paying through the nose for electricity when we’ve got perfectly good nuclear power stations sitting there, or ones that could be fired up again? It makes no sense, does it? We’re all chasing this wind and solar nonsense that’s only useful half the time, and then we’re left scrambling, paying through the nose for gas or importing power from France. Madness.
My proposal is simple: get the existing nuclear fleet running at full tilt for as long as it's safe, and bring back some of the old coal plants with modern filters. They’re reliable, they produce power 24/7, and frankly, they’re cheaper than these fangled renewables that need battery backups that cost a fortune. We need baseload power that doesn't depend on the weather or what some foreign country is doing. It’s common sense, like knowing when to dodge a black cab in rush hour.
