Farmers Are Being Driven Mad By Bureaucracy, Let's Fix It

Saw a farmer down at the market last week, proper decent bloke. He was fuming because he couldn't get a grant for some new solar panels for his barn. Apparently, the application process was so complicated, with endless forms and hoops to jump through, he basically gave up. This is exactly the sort of thing that drives me mad. We want farmers to be sustainable and efficient, but then we make it impossible for them to invest in sensible, forward-thinking tech. It’s like the government is actively trying to make things difficult.

My proposal is basically to streamline all these agri-grants and support schemes. We need a single point of contact, or at least a much simpler online portal, where farmers can see what’s available and apply without needing a law degree. Kemi Badenoch has talked about cutting red tape, and this is a perfect example of where it's needed.
