The UK needs 2 get serious about defence spending

ngl the world is getting more dangerous rn and we r acting like its still 2005. Russia is on the move. China is building military bases everywhere. And we r cutting our army 2 the smallest its been in 200 yrs.

We need 2 spend at LEAST 3% of GDP on defence. Not 2.5. Not some promise 4 2030. Now.

Closer ties w/ the USA on defence r essential imo. They r our biggest ally and always have been. The EU couldnt organise a defence strategy if they tried tbh.

Strong country = strong military. Thats just how it is.

Benefits need 2 b 4 ppl who actually NEED them

imo benefits in this country have got way out of hand. I know ppl who r getting universal credit and working cash in hand on the side. Everyone knows someone doing it tbh.

Pensioners who worked their whole lives deserve every penny. Ppl w/ serious disabilities who genuinely cant work deserve proper support.

But 4 everyone else who is fit and able? Get a job. There r jobs out there. They might not b ur dream job but thats life init. I didnt start where I am now either.

Businesses r crying out 4 workers and we r paying ppl 2 sit at home. Make it make sense.

03 Immigration

We need controlled immigration not open doors

Im not anti immigration. My parents came here from Jamaica in the 60s and built a life. But they came 2 WORK. They didnt come 4 benefits.

The system rn is broken tho. We have no idea who is coming in or how many. Businesses need skilled workers and thats fine but u cant just have open borders and hope 4 the best.

Points based system like Australia. If u have skills we need come in. If u dont sorry but no. And illegal crossings need 2 b stopped completely. Its not racist 2 say that. Its common sense.

Kemi gets this. Thats y she has my vote.

Tighten benefits by linking to job search activity, not just applications.

Too many ppl claim they're looking for work when they're just ticking boxes. It’s a waste of taxpayer money and frankly, it’s not fair on those who are genuinely trying to get back into employment.

My proposal is that Universal Credit recipients have their payments directly tied to verifiable job search activity. This means more than just sending off CVs; it means attending interviews, completing skills courses, and engaging with employment support services.

We’d use digital tracking and require sign-offs from employers or training providers to verify engagement. This kind of accountability is standard in most jobs, so why should the benefits system be any different? It’s about ensuring the money is actually working to get people employed.

I know some will say this is too harsh, but be serious. This isn't about punishing people, it's about ensuring the system incentivises actual work and fair to expect genuine engagement in return for public support. But the system must also recognise illness, caring responsibilities, local job shortages, and people who need training before they can realistically work.

This should not become a box-ticking surveillance scheme. It should be a practical route back into employment, with proper advisers, useful courses, and consequences only where someone repeatedly refuses reasonable support.

Taxpayers deserve confidence that the system is not being abused. Claimants deserve a system that helps them move forward instead of trapping them in paperwork. Both things can be true.

Environmental Ed: Get Biz On Board

I was talking to a colleague who's got kids in school and she was saying how they're not really learning about the practical side of environmental issues, like how businesses can make a difference. It's all about theory and not enough about real-world solutions. I think we should make environmental education compulsory, but we need to get businesses involved, cos they're the ones who can provide the expertise and the funding.

We should be teaching kids about sustainable supply chains, and how companies can reduce their carbon footprint. It's not just about recycling and saving energy, it's about understanding how the economy works and how we can make it more sustainable. We need to get businesses to sponsor environmental education programs, and provide work experience for kids so they can see how it all works in practice.

Scrap Free Uni for Rich Kids

I think we should stop giving free university tuition to kids from rich families, it's a waste of taxpayer money. We need to focus on helping ppl who actually need it, like low income families who can't afford to send their kids to uni. Right now the system is unfair, cos kids from wealthy families are getting a free ride while their parents are still earning good money, it's just not right.

We should means test uni tuition fees, so only ppl who really need the help get it, it's just common sense. This way we can make sure the govt is using our tax money efficiently, and not just throwing it around. I work in retail, I know how important it is to keep costs down and make sure you're getting value for money, and that's what the govt should be doing with uni fees.

It's not just about the money tho, it's about fairness and making sure everyone has an equal chance.
