I'm sick of politicians getting away with manipulating defence spending figures to suit their own agendas. It's like they think we're all just going to swallow whatever nonsense they feed us. The fact that the opposition leader can make a claim like this and get away with it for so long is a joke.
It's time to introduce some actual transparency into defence spending. I'd change the way the Ministry of Defence reports its budget, so it's clear what's actually being spent on what. No more hiding behind vague promises of "increased investment" or "commitments to our armed forces". If we're going to spend billions of pounds on defence, we should at least know what we're getting for our money.
This lack of transparency isn't just a problem for defence spending, it's a symptom of a bigger issue - the complete lack of accountability in government.
